At a glance
Mizan is an app for personal income, spending, giving and savings records. It is developed by Northbyte (“we”). This policy explains how data is handled in the app and on this page.
We do not automatically receive your financial records. Mizan does not require an account, store your budget on a developer-operated server or connect to your bank accounts. Recording giving in the app does not transfer any money.
Mizan has no advertising, advertising tracking, built-in analytics services or third-party crash-reporting services. Diagnostics that Apple itself may process depend on your iOS settings and Apple's terms.
What stays on your device
Mizan stores the data needed for your budget:
- Financial records: opening balances, income, expenses and giving; amounts, dates, times, categories and comments.
- Plans and savings: money allocated to each section, remaining balances, and the name and amount of a savings goal.
- Currency: your accounting currency, downloaded rates and conversion history, including the rate applied and its source.
- Preferences and supporting information: language, animation, reminders, time zone, the start of your records, record identifiers, the export date and whether you have acknowledged the backup warning.
This information is used on your device for calculations, transaction history, purchase checks, preferences and restoring your budget. Core budgeting works without an internet connection. The app uses iOS app isolation and system file protection.
Mizan does not request access to your contacts, location, camera or microphone. When importing, you choose a file through the system Files picker.
When the app connects to the internet
When you open the currency conversion screen or refresh rates, Mizan requests official exchange rates from the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan over an HTTPS connection.
The request includes the date of the rates. Your amounts, transactions, comments and budget database are not included. The bank's server receives ordinary technical request information, such as your IP address and request headers. Its handling of that information follows the service's own practices; we do not control its logs.
Downloaded rates are stored locally. If the download is unavailable, you can enter a rate manually to continue. The budget conversion itself takes place on your device.
Exports and backups
A file you choose to save
At your request, Mizan creates a .mizanbackup file. You choose where to save it through Files: on your device or with an available cloud provider, such as iCloud Drive. When you import a backup, its contents are used to restore your budget.
Saving a file to the cloud does not enable automatic Mizan syncing. Storage of that copy is governed by your chosen provider's settings and terms.
A local recovery copy
Before restoring from a file or converting the accounting currency, the app saves the previous budget in a separate local recovery copy. The next such operation replaces it. This copy has no automatic expiry and no separate delete button in the app.
iPhone system backups
Mizan's data may be included in an iPhone system backup in iCloud or on a computer, depending on your settings. This is an Apple feature, not a Mizan developer server. Learn more about what iCloud backs up.
Reminders
Mizan can remind you to record expenses at a time you choose. Notifications are enabled only with your permission and are scheduled locally on your device; no notification delivery server is used for this feature.
The reminder text does not include budget amounts. You can disable reminders in Mizan settings or in the notifications section of iOS Settings.
Retention, deletion and your choices
Your budget history remains on your device until you delete records or the app's data. Older months are not automatically deleted.
- Edit or delete a transaction through History in Mizan.
- Get a copy of your data by exporting a backup from the app's settings.
- Remove all local Mizan data by deleting the app through iOS. “Offload App” keeps documents and data and does not accomplish this.
- Delete external copies separately in Files, with your cloud provider or in your device backup settings.
Previously created exports, system backups and the local recovery copy may contain records you have already deleted from your current budget. Changing the active budget does not rewrite those copies; restoring an older backup may bring earlier records back.
We have no server copy of your budget, so we cannot remotely read, recover or delete it. You manage local records on your own device.
When you contact support
If you email support.northbyte@gmail.com, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We process them to respond, resolve your request and meet applicable legal obligations, not for advertising.
Correspondence is kept in our email service, Google (Gmail), for as long as needed for these purposes. Its handling also depends on the email service's terms. Please avoid sending your financial database or personal details unless they are needed for your question.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access to personal information you have given us, correction or deletion, or a restriction of processing. Contact the same email address. This may apply to support correspondence; financial records that remain only on your device are not accessible to us.
